This beautiful etched carnelian bead dates to the Late Indus Valley / Post-Harappan period, circa 1500 BCE, predating Bactrian influence in the region. Found in the Peshawar region of present-day Pakistan, it was handcrafted using early etching techniques that permanently altered the surface of the stone, creating subtle patterning with symbolic significance. Etched carnelians from this period are especially scarce, making surviving examples highly collectible. Remarkably well preserved for its age, this bead remains in excellent condition and is presented strung on an adjustable black nylon cord, ready for display or wear as a genuine artifact of deep antiquity.
